So, here is my question. Is the 1992-S proof cent suppose to have the Close AM? If so then is a Wide AM also fairly normal or is it scarce? WOLF

The commmom 1992P and 1992D LMC are WAM. If you find a 1992P or 1992D CAM, its a keeper.

I am so sorry, don't pay attention to my last 2 posts. Very distracted between my daughter and trying to decide whether my 1953 Canada cent has straps or not. I jumped to an answer. I would, however, think a Close AM would be normal. And a wide be odd on a 92s.

WOLF- to answer your question, to the best of my knowledge, there's no 92-S Proof AM variation. Do you have an example of both? You seem to have the luck, so I ask seriously!

The 1992-S should be a WAM. I don't like calling them that but in this case..what the heck..but as live and die stated there is no variation so I refrain from using the term...I see enough of that on ebay

Not that any of this is confusing or anything...

Wolf, like Maineman and others have said, the 1992 (and prior, since 1959) normal reverse for both business strike and proof is the " Wide AM". Both types were supposed to use the same, so the scarce ones are the " Close AM" for all strikes of 1992.

1993 is when all strikes should have a " Close AM".

1994 is when business strikes started to be struck with a different reverse than proofs - business strikes have close, proofs have wide.
