Ok, I recently found a coin that is a new find and so far the 1st of its kind and the only one known to exist. Regardless of grade so far, where or how would I begin to determine what value to put on it. It is an OMM coin and I do know most of them dont carry a high value to begin with but if it does end up being the only one of its kind to be found would that change its status when it comes to its value? its a 1937 D/S Buffalo nickel,it would probably grade VG10 to F12, its been sent to Cherry Pickers for classification then will be sent off to PCGS for grading and certification. Here is a quick look because I dont have the coin in my possession.

Looks like a normal "D" to me but I'm no expert on OMM's. Where do you see the "S"?

IMHO, that mint mark is Strike Doubling. Look at that top photo and notice how the "shadowing" on the E CE are in the same orientation as regards those letters as it is on the mint mark as regards the mint mark. In the bottom photo, neither is that an overdate, IMHO, due to the "foreshortening" of the widths of those primary digits. Strike Doubling will always "borrow" from those digits, foreshortening them, as such. To see that for yourself, look at the widths of those digits, under the same level of magnification, on a normal-struck 1937-D, and compare away.

DISCLAIMER: Then again, what do I know?

I see a few things going on here, but honestly, I would wait for certification before I worried about a price or value. Even a value for insurance purposes would be hard to claim if there was no proof it was real.
