I went to numismedia http://www.numismedia.com/ to check the value of the 2009-D dime that I found yesterday. The prices for the '09 and '10 dimes and nickels are the same. I thought that the '09 was a very low mintage and hard to find,if so wouldn't the value for the '09's be higher? Also the value for a 1939 Jefferson nickel I found is listed at 30 cents at numismedia while a coin value magazine I have says $1. Neither of these sources list the value for the '39 with the '40 reverse. Just wanted some opinions on this, thanks much.

the 2009 dimes and nickels should be a LOT harder to find. In 76 boxes last year, I only saw about 50 2009 dimes. Nickels are even rarer. I have only seen about ten in ~ 20 boxes searched. Yes, they should cost a lot more and they probably will go up substantially in price.

Just look at the market and you will see that the 2009 nickels are going for much more than face, approximately 20x in BU.

The mintage is low relative to other modern dimes, but there are still plenty for anyone that needs one for their collection. I believe a lot of them are tied up in bank vaults or speculator hoards. Eventually, they will flood the market and the prices you see will adjust to a realistic level.
