Beautiful. Over $2 in silver in that lovely coin. Any way to get a detailed closeup of the date ... looking for the 1943/2 variety? I'm possibly seeing some markers at the base of the 3 that you should check out. David

Nickelsearcher, Here are a few shots of the date, shooting them through a loupe so they are not the best. Thank You for pointing out the date I forgot all about that. Terry

OK ... in all 3 photos I'm seeing something that leads me to wonder if this might be a 1943/2 ...
The area to focus on is the '3' of the date ... in particular the lower edge of the '3' where it appears there might (maybe) be a portion of the under date '2' rising at 60 degrees.
Truly hard for me to tell ... perhaps the experts can chime in?

I doubt it's a overdate. It really did look like it in the first photo since it appeared to have something else under or by the date but the enlargements didn't show that.

Eaglefoot, I agree this one is not so clear cut. I was leaning towards agreeing with just carl about it not being one. Because I finally had a chance to dig out my Cherry Pickers Guide and the angle on the small spike that goes up from the base of the 3 in the date does not look to be at same angle as the picture in the guide and in the picture of the 43/2 that Upstate posted. But in the Cherry Pickers Guide it says and shows that the 43/2 is also a Doubled Die. And I saw some doubling in the E of "WE" I will see if I can check it out a little closer this weekend and possibly get some shots of it. Kind of hard sometimes to get the right angle holding a loupe in front of a camera. I love a good puzzle especially from pocket change.
