Hello all!

I just ordered a Carson zOrb. Should be here Thursday. I was wondering what are your likes and dislikes of the zOrb if you own one.

I was reading some past threads and only saw one or two dislikes about it. I saw where it was said that two out of three of the L.E.D.s had burned out? I thought those were supposed to last like a million hours or something?

Also, doesn't it come with two stands? Why would anyone need to make a stand for it?

Will be glad to hear your input on the Carson zOrb!

Love mine. Not perfect but for the price it is great. It comes with two stand off cones that help you maintain a steady distance from the coin.

I agree with Fatboy, I took a small piece of tape and covered 3 lights and still get reflection.Plus you can only do .01-.05-and .10 as a hole coin.

Sorry for the really bad pics but you will get the idea.I use a Celestron 44302 and had to cover five of the six leds with rubber caps painted black with a marker http://i517.photobucket.com/albums/...IMG_2919.jpg
I then made a filter out of a piece of lens cleaner tissue http://i517.photobucket.com/albums/...IMG_2921.jpg
I took the inside tube of an ink pen and wrapped a piece of the tissue I cut to the width of the led bulb then pinched one end of it and taped it with frosted scotch tape, and tada a light filter http://i517.photobucket.com/albums/...IMG_2920.jpg
Works fine for me,hopes it helps you.

Thank you for the replies. I'll have to play with mine a bit and see what I can do. Isn't here yet, but it's Wed. If I have to, I'll make the light filter.

It has to be better than my Kodak EasyShare. Don't get me wrong, with some help I was able to get fairly descent pics. I just can't get the really up close detail that I sometimes needed.

Once I get the zOrb, I'll post some random pics and you all can give some critique. If you will? Thanks again for the replies!

Has anyone had any success getting clear images of bays on an LMC with a zOrb? Any suggestions?
