I have a rather large jar (5" x 1') full of Wheat Pennies. What, if anything, should I be looking for in terms of rarity, value, etc.? I do not know too much about this topic. Thank you!

I personally would keep all RD's, all RB's prior to '55 or thereabouts, any repunched mint marks (RPM's), doubled dies, etc.

The problem with that site that shows values is it is like the Red Book. Prices on coins fluctuate constantly sort of like the stock markets so unless such a list is updated all the time, it becomes just one more Guide and not much more. For informative information on your coins you may want to check out TheLincolnCentResourse web site or https://www.coppercoins.com There are numerous other price guide web sites such as the PCGS one, the Coin World one, the Numismatic one yet try to remember those are all just guides and in many instances are not accurate or up to date.

I suggest picking up a book on grading and a coin magazine with a price guide .

Usually agree with you Carl. But do coin prices REALLY fluctuate all the time like the stock market? Methinks not! Maybe based on who wants what coin at any given moment. But prices actually do not "flucuate" all that much.

The first thing I suggest is sorting them out by decade. Sorting by year will probably make since for the late 1940s and 1950s due to the massive amounts of them produced.

From there you start picking out potential keys and semi-keys. It will also make it easier to search for any errors and such.

I recommend you The Lincoln Cent resource as well. It has a ton of pictures and information to help you identify what to look for.

I would not look at prices to close yet, at least not until you become good at grading coins.
