The 2006W Uncirculated(burnished finish) 1/10oz Gold Eagles used to have a significant premium over bullion Eagles due to a mintage of ~12,000. I just looked at values and it appears that the huge run-up in gold has all but erased that premium Some of the early proofs still have a small premium over common dates but it appears that the only outlier is the 1999W that was struck with unfinished proof dies. It looks like a regular bullion issue but it has the ever-important W mintmark that should only be on proofs for that year.
Thanks for that info. I did some research and decided to go with a 2008w uncirculated $5 gold eagle as it has a very low mintage and is much more collectible than the bullion coins.
