Was wondering if there are any key dates in this series or if anything is worth more then bullion value. Just traded some silver for a bunch and besides those I also have another 20 dollar face I got a while back. Wondering if there are any dates I should look for or just leave them alone as is and let them sit. I wish the us made .999 nickels back in the day

Since we're talking from 1955-1981 it was fairly boring. Those nickels are unsearached for varieties at least by me.

1964 - so called XWL (extra water line) making what appears to be four water lines below KG in front of the beaver - some value in higher grades
1965- large bead variety (this is valuable in all grades more or less, not millions )
1977- low seven- some value in higher grades

Here are some of the varieties that I search for;

1946 6/6
1946 arrowhead
1947 dot
1951 beaver high relief
1953 no shoulder strap
1957 bug tail
1962 double date
1964 extra water line

and here is the page for reference;

In 1965, there are 3 different "extra claw" varieties to look for around the beaver's foot.

I don't know if they carry any kind of premium, but I still look for them.

LOL!

No, but I do have an article at CONECA that talks about them. It's about a third of the way down the page:
