This topic pertains to all of us. What do you expect from an ANA dealer? They have by-laws and a code of ethics that they are supposed to operate under. Is filing a complaint in the best interest of our group or ignore what you think is a transgression of the by-laws. There are many dealers that are good loyal ANA members and are proud to use the logo and operate under the by-laws. These dealers deserve our support but what should be done with those who have little or no respect for there code of ethics.

Yes, the ANA does have an arbitration process for buyers wronged by an ANA dealer. Sanctions can result in a dealer being expelled from the ANA. One major dealer(KPCtoCC) who frequently advertises in coin mags was expelled a few years ago, he refused to answer for numerous complaints about doctored, overgraded, and cleaned coins sold as problem-free.

The subject involved a widow selling her husbands 3 gold $25 eagles. I told her to go to our local coin shop and he would treat her right. I sold some coins to him and he said that he paid 88% of spot at the time of sale for gold and silver. He paid her 74% of spot. When I reminded him of what he told me and I sent her expecting her to be treated fairly His reply was "well she was happy" and business is business. Would this be a case for arbitration?

Not really since as he noted, buisness is buisness. He or no one is obligated in the dealings with Gold, Silver, Coins, used cars or even a used snow shovel. You really should have accompanied that person if you wanted to get her the best deal. It's sort of like taking a used car to a professional mechanic or taking one with you when you go to purchase a car.
Being a member of any organization doesn't mean anything, really. Kind of like saying if you join the NRA you could never commit a crime with a gun. Yes it should but since it is not against the law, what would complaining accomplish now. I suggest you just tell everyone about this and hopefully his buisness as usual becomes a little less as usual.
