I wanted to post this earlier, but didn't want to change the path of the thread, now it looks like that's what's being discussed. For anyone who truly wants high quality photos- AmScope, at https://www.amscope.com makes several models of stereo scopes, free standing microscopes which come with 10MP digital camera, software and cords, For under $250 delivered. I recommend a model with 20x, 40x and 80x, or 30x, 60x and 120x. Anything above that will be too strong to show coin detail. My AmScope is ALL I use, it more than paid for itself the first month I used it in my ebay listings. Like a good reference book, this is truly one of the best investments one could make in our hobby. I don't have a personal interest in AmScopes, I just believe in them so strongly that I'll loudly endorse their product. SORRY- BACK TO Cud WILD's COIN

I got a 600 dollar camera here and so many features and I cant figure the stupid thing out. Its frustrating because I think you would all enjoy the way this coin looks. I think I'm going to have to read the book on the camera for once.

Cud Wild, I think still too much contrast and not "close up" enough.... but then I am still trying to learn. Take a look at the image in this post https://goccf.com/t/83591 (or look at the images in several posts, and begin to notice which ones get the best response).

Cud Wild... you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT... I am very much interested in seeing this coin, and I am sure I am not the only one. I have a $1200 Nikon that even has a "macro" (close up) setting... but still this is not close enough. If you go to the photography forum http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...?FORUM_ID=81You will see many ideas and discussions that helped me a lot.

Yeah, I figured that out after looking at the thread for a little while. I had no idea what 'type 3' was supposed to mean at first. I figured he thought he had found a class 3 doubled die.
It shows that using proper terminology can be important...that's why we have it.

The original title of the thread before being edited was "2009 Type 3 DDR". I think that's where the confusion came in.

I mean we could be sticky about it. " LMC" is used in the title, which stands for " Lincoln Memorial cent" - that series began in 1959 and ended in 2008. This coin is a 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial cent. However. continuing to be "sticky" about things, the official Mint designation for this design is "LP3" which stands for " Lincoln Penny #3"...and the United States of America has NEVER minted "pennies," which are 1/12 of a shilling. We mint "cents." which are 1/100 of a dollar...and always have.

I know I misworded just about everything in this post. I just got excited on what I found and hurried up and threw it on here. I'm still learning as far as all the abbreviations go for coins. Within the next couple days I promise to have nice photos of this coin. Its very unique and I think you and dievariety would enjoy seeing this. And everybody else on this forum for the matter.

A friend of mine is a professional photographer. I'm going to take the coin to him with my camera to photograph the coin. I'm going to have him personally show me how to take pictures of coins for fine details. Theres so many different settings on this camera and I was messing with it and now I dont know how to even get a clear picture. Ill have him set it all back to normal for me. So hopefully this week Ill be able to get the nice clear photos of the coin. When thats all said and done I think I'm going to get one of the photos blown up into a 8x10 and hang it in my lounge either that or have a poster made of many different errors combined. This is something I wanted to do for quite some time now. Now that I have a more variety of error coins it would make it more worth while.

It is entirely likely that your camera is doing the best it can without additional aid. My camera wouldn't do any better than yours without a microscope. Photos taken to show enough detail to see a doubled die clearly MUST be taken through more magnification than the typical camera is going to have on its own.
