For my nicest coins I have 20 Mahogany Coin Trays that a friend made for me. I can use them to display coins for shows and personal enjoyment. They stack inside my vault box at the bank.

Thanks jbuck. They add a sense of formality when I do a display at a show.

"Store my coins? LOL! You gotta be kidding!
A bedroom converted to an office, the closet of that bedroom, the shelves in the closet of my bedroom, a whole wall of the garage, two different car-size storage units, and a fourth of my uncle's workshop."
Chuck I remember back in '07 when you moved to Florida there was a big scare about "global warming". Turns out it was just the planet shifting on its axis to accomodate the weight of your collection moving across thew country. Now that you have moved back all is well with the planet!

I read this thread and said to myself, "I have all of my coins in Dansco albums...". And then I looked around: The top drawer (for foreign, loose, slabs, 2x2s and rolls) The sock drawer: for 500 + LWCs sorted by decade) The Beer Mugs: Loose & modern Fianlly, the closet (Yes, Danscos, but also Whitmans, Proof Sets & Folders)) And then there's the 2 Safety Deposit Boxes... Oh my!

After all the Christmas sales are over, many stores have scratched or lightly damaged jewelry or wooden tool chests marked down to almost give away prices. Bed Bath & Beyond had scratched jewelry chests marked down to $7--- regularly $50---- and I bought two to store coins and bullion. Later on I saw Macy's had returned scratched jewelry chests marked way down. Chests like this are available on ebay year round: And they hold a great deal of your collection and they're inexpensive. I also use photo boxes bought from Michael's. When you use one of their weekly coupons they're under $2. When I brought the two jewelry chests to the checkout at Bed, Bath & Beyond the checkout chuckled and asked if I had a lot of jewelry. I told her they were to store a coin collection which she and another salesperson thought was a good idea, so they went and bought the remaining ones on the shelf for their husbands.

I use the Rich Preacher's system.
Throw the offering up in the air, God can take what he wants, what hits the floor is mine.

China's trying to make a deal with Chuck so they won't have to open another mine.

I like the chest idea. My wife wants all my stuff nice and neat, which I do as well. I just don't know where I will end up putting it all. If I get into anything expensive I guess I'll get a safty Deposit box or safe. I need to buy some Dansco's and some other "Better" storage that binders and shoeboxes.

Hi all! It took me a while to find this post again. I figured I'd post some of my coin storage. So here it is. Pay no attention to the date of the photos. I took them today. My wife bought this wooden tool chest when she worked at Lowes. I originally used it for my art supplies, but after a while decided it was best used for my coins. One coffee can is full of Wheats, the other is full of Pre-60's Jefferson nickels. The bank boxes are the empty ones from roll searching. Still not sure if I want to throw them away or keep them for whatever. Two of the Collector albums are World coins, the other is U.S. coins, tokens and medals. Glad I could participate!

I really like the trays and the wooden toolbox! I need to go check my local art store to see if they have anything like that.
