After taking advice posted elsewhere about the new mint gold and silver set, some other questions popped up.

1. As far as true resale value does it really matter if you have the mint silver eagle "set" in their box? I have 10 2006 proofs from them and who knows how many 2006 MS eagles. So....is ity just as good to just buy the new UNC issue and make my own "sets?" Or, does the mint box with all three add some kind of substantial premium?

2. Likewise, will the new UNC gold eagles carry individual premiums over the 4-piece set broken out of the box and sold separately? It's $20 cheaper to just buy the set.

Thanks for any advice,

Ok ..so you have 10 2006 proof silver eagles.
You are still missing 2 coins from the 20th anniversary 3 piece set. You are missing the unc silver eagle with the W mint mark and the silver eagle reverse proof.

They are selling the unc W coin individually but you need to buy the 3 piece set to get the Silver Eagle reverse proof. They don't sell it as a single (yet).
If you wait until the silver set ships; you will be able to buy a single reverse proof slabbed for a premium. I think they would go for at least $150 slabbed in MS69.

For resale value, I would think it would be cheaper to buy the 3 piece silver set. It's only $100.00. The proof is $30.00, the unc W is $20.00, that would make the reverse proof $50.00. On the secondary market I can't see you buying a raw reverse proof for $50.00...it's got to be more money and even more once slabbed and graded.

2. Likewise, will the new UNC gold eagles carry individual premiums over the 4-piece set broken out of the box and sold separately? It's $20 cheaper to just buy the set.

I'm not sure what you are talking about here. The unc gold is $720 and the 4 piece unc gold set is $1350.

PLease correct my logic if I'm wrong or maybe I didn't understand the original question.
