Well..I was up late a few nights ago and browsing ebay lots that were ending pretty soon. Saw this up, bid, and expected to be outbid at the last few seconds. I wasn't and immediately thought...crap lol.  . I got it for 26+3 for shipping and it finally came in today. If anything maybe I'll use it as a pocket piece as I really wanted a better specimen for my first Morgan. Still happy to have one finally and if it's a lesson learned, at least it wasn't a very expensive one. I'm guessing its VG/F ? Using the RedBook as a grading outline. I'm probably way off.  No more drunk ebay'ing.    |

I would say G-6 details for this coin with Silver so high anything in the mid-$20's is fine for a purchase price.

I concur with fenton's G-6 grade. Pricewise, you did fine in today's market. I sold a few, G-VG silver dollars at a show a few weeks ago. Dealers there were paying $25, apiece.

Looks nice to me. At least you can appreciate/feel the history. Youre next one can be in a slab, graded and locked away :)

I personally have just been starting in the coin business/market. I have been starting out with Morgan and Peace dollars, I just like you was very nervous on my first purchase of a Morgan dollar, and it came out that I lost money on the deal, but hey, everything is a learning experience. You win some, you lose some. With this one, you at least bought it at a decent price, I would say hold on to it for a little bit and wait for silver to go up and then sell it to get melted down. |

I don't think I could ever sell it to be melted. I'd rather sell or give it to someone who would appreciate it. I'd hate to see a piece of history destroyed.  |
