I've recently started collecting later-date large cents and would really like to pick up a good reference guide to help me with identification and building some knowledge. I've noticed that a lot of people recommend the Attribution Guide For United States Large Cents (1840 - 1857) by J.R. Grellman and Jules Reiver, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. However, I do recall a post where someone had direct contact info for J.R. Grellman and that you could purchase copies of the book directly from him.

Does anyone have that information and would you be willing to send it to me? Many thanks!

I found this http://www.earlycoppercoins.com/Boo...ep_42-1.html . Down at the bottom list his address to send money for the book. Seems the book is out of print elsewhere.

Thank you very much for the info! I was at a coins show a little while back and found what I thought were two large cent 'oddities'. I purchased them both because I found them intriguing (well, and I already had a few other large cents in my collection) and got them both for a good price. After doing a bit of research, I realized that my two purchases were an 1844/81 and an 1846 'tall date'. Needless to say.....I'm hooked.

You may want to check out the Early American Coppers, EAC website. I copied the following info from there:

J.R. Grellman. 2001. The Die Varieties of United States Large Cents 1840-1857. M&G Publications.
At 464 pages with over 100 photographs, this is the authoritative reference on late date large cents. Available from: Bob Grellman, ljefferys@cfl.rr.com.

Amazon might have a new or used copy for a fair price.
