I'm new and keep hearing everyone recommending Dansco albums. As popular as they are and without ye seeing one firsthand (only internet pics), I have a couple questions:
1.) I read that you can see view sides of the coin and they they're protected by some kind of plastic sheet. None of the pics on the internets really show this protective sheet though. How does it work? Is it just a 3-hole punched piece of plastic (acetic or whatever) that goes in between each actual page? Does it attach to
2.) Does it actually prevent your coins from curious fingers or could someone forget to flip the plastic and the have the bare coins exposed?
3.) Does it offer any kind of airtightness? I know some people store their album in a freezer bag and suck out the air, so I'm assuming the album itself offers no protection in this aspect.
4.) How important is storing your collecting in an airtight space?
1) The slide inserts between the cardboard page and the lining. I will see if I can find a photo that shows the actual slide in action.
2) Since the slide is "inside" the page, there is no problem.
3) No.
4) It is not as important as keeping them in a controlled environment; low humidity and stable temperature. However, it can help and certainly does not hurt to keep them in something air-tight.
Cool. Thanks for all the info guys. It was very helpful. And jbuck, don't even worry about digging up a picture. The way you described it works just fine.
