Hello All! New here but have been lurking around for awhile. Great website, and thanks for having me. My question is about the Dansco album for Liberty Walking halves, # 7160. All of my coins fit very loosely in this particular album. I have several other Dansco's and the fit is just right. The problem is that the coins spin around in the album....as if the Liberty's have been dancing in the dark! I realize that worn coins will be looser, but even my near-mint ones are not secure in the holes. So, anyone else have this issue with this album? Thanks in advance. Jim

I had the same problem. I cut thin strips from coin rappers and inserted the strips along the side of the coin. Made them nice and snug. And welcome to CCF!

I actually noticed this because I have the JFK dansco and around the 2021 spot I tossed in my 4 franklins, 2 walkers and 2 barbers the franklins seemed to fit but the others are also a bit loose Wondered if that happened to others I don't know how to fix it and didn't try anything, but it isn't a whole album, I put them in there to show off and look at myself

The coins fit snug in both my Kennedy and Franklin Dansco albums. The half dollar holes in my Dansco 7070 are snug as well (Kennedy, Franklin, Walker, Barber, Seated Liberty, and Capped Bust). Actually, the first Capped Bust hole needed to be sized out a little for my coin to fit. I just noticed that two of the Seated Liberty half dollars are rotated a little in the photos. Interesting. They may be loose, although I do not recall them being so. I will have to check on this the next time I get it out. They may have shifted when I removed the slides for the photos.

This problem is not just with Dansco but many company's Albums are similar. Oddly enough some of my Whitman Albums are like that. I really wouldn't recommend the piece of paper for a splint. I have a Liberty Head Quarter Dansco that really is loose for almost all coins. I've tried adding a second plastic slide but that just did nothing front and rear. Then I realized the plastic slides are large enough to trim a sliver of plastic to make those wedges and not even show on the slides where taken from since so much is inside the outer layer of paper. Also, a piece of plastic next to the coins doesn't show either. These you know are safe for long term storage and also make the oins fit snug. I just wouldn't use any paper product since almost any paper could absorb moisture especially where cut. this process is really a pain but works. Main problem is if you go to change that coin, you must remember about that plastic wedge. Or just glue the coins in place. And a big

Thanks to everyone for their input. I have tried tiny "wedges" to hold the coins, but what a pain that is.
Anyone ever contact Dansco about the issue?
Anyway, thanks again. Jim

Weird! I just checked my Dansco #7160 album and the coins are snugly fit into the slots.
I wonder if there was just a mis-cut batch of albums? Dansco may switch yours out if there was a mistake made. I'd try a phone call.
Good luck!

It never hurts to ask. The worst they can do is say no. Dansco Corporation (323) 734-6373 4313 W Jefferson Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90016

Update to my earlier posting.
Had a pleasant phone conversation with a young lady at Dansco, who has sent me special "shims" they make for this problem. They appear to be very thin slices of the same material they use for the slide-in windows in the albums. I cut them into about 1" lengths and slip them in around the edge of the coins and, voila, coins are tight! Good solution.
Thanks, Dansco!
