I am going to start dumping my lincoln cents at a local bank that has a free coin counting machine. For you guys that have been doing this, on average how many can you get in before its full? I'd love to bring in a 50# jug at a time, but I doubt it will all fit, unless the machine was just emptied.
Do these coins go back to a big rolling company, or do some banks do there own rolling? If there is a chance that this local bank has there own rolling machine and that they will stay in my area, I am tempted to hold onto my dump longer.

Interesting.., these machines are like the coinstars. They are in the lobby area and when your done you bring them a reciept and they deposit it into your account. If the machine gets full, I doubt someone would be willing to open it up on the spot. Maybe I'll bring in the largest jug I can carry and see what happens.:)

50 each time is ok because they hate to change the bags and with the time they start to give you that dirty looking lol .

Why don't you ask that question at the bank ? They would most likely know the capacity of the machine better than we would.

Because I don't want them to figure out that I am dumping pennies that I have received from a different branch. More than likely they wont care but this is the only bank in my area that has free coin counters. So its a risk I do not want to take.

Maybe I am easily amused , but these coin counting machines are pretty cool. Anyways I returned 80 pounds each to 2 different branches and both machines did not fill up. I got a couple stares lugging in two 40 pound bags in each arm. There must be some magnetic sensor in the machine because the machine discarded the current steel canadian cents but did not discard the earlier 97+? which do not have steel in them. The teller told me that the coins are shipped out, which means some poor local guy wont get a bag of my dumps. But I am doing my part in reducing the amount of copper in circulation nationally.

I'm sure the banks appreciate your efforts.

I constantly fill the machine and the tellers at the bank jump right on it and switch them out. They are a good group of people. I call it my bank but I don't have an account, my girlfriend does and they say "that's close enough, but if you break up you will have to find another girl with an account here". They know they are my one and only dump bank, and as irritating as I'm sure people like us can be, I do my best to make them laugh and smile."some jerk just broke your counting. Ok ok, I'm the jerk and ill probably break it again next week." They know I'm just doing what I enjoy and treat me good....maybe I should open an account. Lol
