Seems that while nickel roll searching I come across lots of ugly ones from the 1980s in various states of die stress. Sometimes it seems the dies were ridiculously close to shattering. I usually save the craziest looking ones because I like them.

Also I have a question: Given time, would those stressed dies that are making such coins eventually shatter and devolve into Cud errors and the like? I think it would be interesting to see where on the coin such Cuds typically form or originate from on these nickels.

I have found three Jefferson Cud errors and two are from the 80's. My more significant example is pictured (1983p). The other two (1966 and 1987p) are less significant and the Cud only covers the designer's initials.
