So can anyone tell based off of the picture if this steel cent is legit or if it may have been reprocessed or not? also, is it overpriced? http://cgi.ebay.com/1943-S-Lincoln-...em5ade2c5da7i would appreciate input. I am looking to buy two of these, so if you have one or two in ms condition that you would like to sell to me then let me know.

As far as I can tell it's legit, but I'm no pro on Counterfeit Detection, at $7 you are not risking much. It's not overpriced. Raw versions in this grade will fetch a few dollars, a slabbed version will usually run a few dollars more, sometimes in the $10 range. I have one of these, except I paid $110 for mine. Granted mines MS67, but it was worth it as it's one of the most beautiful slabbed cent's I have.

No expert here either, but it looks to have natural luster. The replated ones have a look I can't describe, but this doesn't look like one to me.

This has nothing to do with counterfiet detection. A replated cent would be an altered coin, not a fake coin.
Anyhow, this one looks right to me. Photos can lie, but it looks fine from what little I can see.

Looks like it should to me.
If you have some patience, I'll sell you a whole set when I have time to dig through my stuff.

BadThad: I do have time but I do not need a whole set. I have the p and d already. I need the s for my lincoln set, and then I need another for my dansco 7070.
and Coppercoins that is what I meant. I know replated coins are still mostly real, they are just altered. I just want to make sure I don't buy any coins that are altered.

Looks authentic to me too. I really think that the price is a bit on the high side. I thought Chuck was selling some Limcolns. Surprized he didn't offer. I've got about 2500 of those from when I was a kid so I know mine are mostly originals. $7 + the $0.99 postage is not really to high if you can't find one in that condition easily.

It doesn't seem to have that tell-tale "glazed doughnut" look that the reprocessed ones have.

I went back and looked again and double clicking on the photos they really look nice and sharp features. Let us know when you get it if it still looks that nice. For another one try bugging Chuck on https://www.coppercoins.com

Coin looks nice and looks right, at least when I compared my 2 sets of PDS to it. Nice pick up. $6.00 for MS 63 based on the Red Book so I'd say you paid about right.
