Can't seem to find any reference to this token anywhere. All the info I have is that the name Neal and the 19 Percival street address are those of the manufacturer of such tokens. It's also kind of interesting that "Kedgley" is stamped on the rim as well.
Any clues are very appreciated! =)

In my youth, the Kedgley family were "Spud Men" (potato sellers) around South London. That makes it about 50 years ago, but this token is older and very probably does date back a further 100 years to the Borough Market in Southwark, just south of the Thames.

Thanks guys! That is very specific and excellent historical info. I did not think it was that old, since 2 shillings seems like a lot of money for a token.
Thank you! =)

Re the Kedgley token,Benjamin Kedgley (1802-75) ran a potato and pea business at Borough Market, originally in the name of B Kedgley & Son and latterly as Kedgley and Thorogood. When Benjamin died in 1875 the business was passed to his son Henry in partnership with Thorogood and went bankrupt in 1892. The token was used in connection with the containers used by producers when they brought goods to the market and the token would be redeemed when the container(s) were collected. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the information Terry.
I have mailed this token as a gift to another member of the Kedgley family, Graham in Vancouver, after I was notified by acrymble (who posted at the top) that he is collecting items related to the family's history.
Thanks again! =)
