I got lucky on ebay, every once in a while I'll see one thats fairly cheap.

Another place to get books at a good discount is abebooks.com. Like anything you have to do some searching though to find a deal.

I drove 40 minutes to buy one but when I got there I was despointed with the black n white pics and price so just bought a 2011 Red Book , I guess I'm missing all the varieties

Unless you can find a used copy, you will not be able to find one "cheap". Not only is the CPG actually two volumes but both books are spiral bound with hard covers, making them more expensive than an average paperback. It really is worthwhile to spend the extra money for a properly outfitted numismatic library.
