I am curious and was just wondering if 1 oz. Silver Eagles that have been "painted" and/or plated with gold loose any value in regards to the silver when they are painted and/or plated with gold? I appreciate any feedback.

They seem to be going for $40-45 on ebay, putting them right in line with non-plated silver eagles.

to me and many others, the painted ones are just bullion and should go for bullion prices. Nothing special about them imho.

I think he was asking if it hurts the silver value of the coins having plating and paint on them.

Answer is no.

I am sorry I worded my post incorrectly - yes you are correct coppercoins that is what I was asking - someone asked me that question and I told them I did not think it would hurt the silver value of the coins. Thank you everyone for your replies - I LOVE THIS SITE !!

One major dealer buys gp, enameled and antiqued 999 silver at sterling price, about 32% less than 999. He can resell clean 999, but gets too many gripes on the other stuff, and has to keep track of it separately and refine it.
