Good on you, man, and for having the 1945 micro "s". I have that coin and love it; really neat.

I really like the Mercury dime set and it was one of my first that I worked on, and it's still not finished. One missing (surprise). $67 , I paid more than that for my 21d, nice job

UPDATE: The 1916 D is still missing...
On the other hand I'm putting together a second set, this time with higher grade coins. I don't think I will be going MS yet, but maybe

That's a pretty amazing set for the price. $67! It's worth a lot more than that just in the silver content. I'd say it might beat my Buffalo set on the frugality-meter.
I've been slowly working on a '34-'45 "long short" uncirculated set, but I think I want to do a complete circulated set in VF-XF also. Looking at past auctions at HA, I could "afford" the stopper, in the sense that it would fit into my finances without causing me to take on debt, but I feel pretty ambivalent about owning an "investment" coin (and a problem free example in that condition range certainly would be!) The more I think about it, the more I want it.
Fortunately, examples in that condition range come up so rarely that somebody will talk some sense into me by the time I find one for sale. Hey everybody, get busy talking sense into me!

I'm getting ready to sell my set of Mercs to try and finish off a set of early Commemoratives - twelve to go. I have a 16-D (AG-3) that was broken out of the slab to go into the album. It's a strong 3 with no damage. Also have the 21 in Fine and 21D in VG. If there is interest I'll post them in the For Sale portion of the site... Paleoguy
BTW - From 1934 on all the Mercs are BU with lots of FB'ers.

@paleoguy45: I'd like to see them at the very least. I'm being super-picky on my 34-45 set (they're common enough that I have the luxury of being picky), but I'm just getting started with it, so I bet you have several that I'd want. I'm also in the market for VF-XF for my circulated set.

Amazing. For $67? How did you do that considering you have 2 of teh 1921's and a 21D also. Those two alone should be in the total of about over $100. And too the 26S. If I were you I'd try to find a 16d as soon as possible. Remember there are over 300,000,000 people in the USA alone and many more in other countries. How many of those are coin collectors or soon many be makes the availability of a 16D not the greatest in the future. One thing to notice too is the 31D. Fourth lowest mintage in the series. When collecting a coin of any type where the total minted is less than a few million, every day it will get harder to find them. Congradulations. Nice going

Quote:Very nice! My Mercury dime set has three holes. I am sure we all know what three holes I am talking about. Not really. Does the Dansco have a spot for the 42/41, 42D/41, 45 Micro S? And not to be rubbing it in about Whitman versus Dansco but in my Whitman Mercury dime Albums there is no empty spaces on the last page. Sort of makes a Dansco appear to never be filled. Be carefull doing that. That sort of attitude starts a real problem. I did that a long time ago and started one set after another after another. Eventually I now have 12 Mercury dime Albums. Lots of duplicates in 2x2's waiting for another Album to put them in. It is sort of like an addiction. You just can't stop.

I think that is the nature of the beast and why we are all here! I kinda look at this forum as the opposite of an AA meeting. We come here to talk about our sick addiction just to have other addicts tell us, "It's okay, keep doing it!" lol
