So I work part time at a gas station and I'm always finding cool stuff like Buffalo nickels and silver dimes and quarters. I've picked up Morgans too. Usually from people who don't know better, like the 16 year olds that raid Dad's Change Jar for gas money and what not. Last Firday a gentleman in his 40's comes in and buys a pack of gum for $1.49 and he gives me 2 $1 coins. Not a Sacagawea, not the Presidents, not Morgan or Peace, but Silver Eagles!! I told the guy what they were and he turned 20 shades of red. His father passed away and he found roughly 100 of them. These were his last two after a day of going out shopping. He said thanks for the honesty, took the gum, left the coins and said "I hope you have $2 to buy them because they are yours now." I really wish I had asked where he went shopping!! I just started a brand new, very well paying job, but I won't leave the gas station, I make so much extra money on the change there it's not funny. Plus it's next to Gillette Stadium so during football season I get to see all the players on a regular basis. It's cool to see Tom Brady a few days a week. I'm not friends with him by any means, but he does say "Good morning Dave!" every time he comes in. So it's worth stick around!

too bad you weren't the first place he started spending his "$1 dollar coins". I bet they would have found a new home.

HAHAHAHAHA....SWEET!! I got one like that too... My son works at a drive through that mostly sells beer and cigs. I have him trained to watch for collectible coins. I guy came in an bought a pack of smokes and paid with an Eagle and some bills. He made dad happy that night.

Good for you, though, for informing someone. And awesome on him for rewarding your honesty.

I bet most of the other people that received them did not even know what they were.

Wow! I don't know what's worse, knowing after the fact or not knowing at all. Great find for you though and an awesome location. Being on a first name basis with Tom Brady, not too shabby at all.

Well, I do wear a name tag so it's doubtful Tom Brady would "forget". I'm also sure if I was to bump into him at a place other than my work he wouldn't not remember my name if he even recognized me.
As far as the unlucky customer...He was upset for sure, and I don't think he was rewarding me as much as he was just steaming mad he could be so foolish.
I felt awful for him, the two he bought me were dinged up, but at todays price of $37 an ounce, thats $3,700 that he used to buy $100 worth of stuff.

I hope you are checking the bills too. Blue seals, red seals, brown seals "hawaii", yellow seals, and if you got nothing else to do, look for fancy serial numbers. A local service station guy here showed me a Hawaii ten dollar he found in his register and it was in great shape too.

Best gas station find? 98 octane fuel! That's best for my old classic car.
