A few years ago I bought on ebay a Kansas quarter that had a faint , almost missing "T" which made it say "rust" instead of "trust". I thought this was kinda cool so I bought it for about $6. I received it and assumed it was genuine, but later, when I came to know a lot more about coins, I saw there was a blotch around the T as if someone had been trying to remove it. I presumed this was a fake and said "crap" then went about my life. Now a few days ago I was quarter roll searching and I came across the same type of quarter, only this time the T was faint and there was no evidence of counterfeiting. This coin looked real but the other did not. Any ideas? Ever heard of this thing?

Hey Rachums- This recent thread will illustrate how the clogged letters come to be, it goes further to explain the next steps which can occasionally create dropped letters. You may have already read it, but maybe it'll give you a broader picture. https://goccf.com/t/84426

Thanks liveanddie for the help I think I understand it In everyone's opinion, is it worth anything?
P.S. No, the quarter isn't rusty.

Just a quarter. It's a tough less learned on ebay that someone took advantage of your not knowing what it was. It happens. Stick around and see what else is valuable and what is not reading the forum and get a good education for free.

Coin is good for illustrating a portion of the minting process and learning, but still worth just 25c.
