Hi,

I have an 1184-O Silver Dollar from the Fitzgerald Nevada Club Reno Hoard. The coin has been graded Brilliant Uncirculated. I have not been able to find anything about this coin. Does anyone have any idea of it's value? It was graded by NGC. Help!!?

Thanks,

Whats an 1184O silver dollar? Do you mean 1884? You can check online price guides to get a good assumption of price.

WOW, a coin Minted hundreds of years before the US was even started. If made here this would prove that the American Indians started the Dollar coin.
By the way, from the USA to China.

It's worth between $45 and $75 USdollars.

The Fitzgeralds Club was a Casino in Reno, Nevada that went out of business. They had quite a sizeable holding of Morgan and Peace dollars that were acquired by investors. The investors sent the coins to NGC in bulk and through agreement with NGC these were graded "Brilliant UNC" if they were between MS60~63. The better pieces were sent in separately and afforded a number grade.

Their intent in doing this was to gain additional value through provenance ... tie some recognized name to it and hope the buying public considers it more valuable. It's a marketing ploy that works initially, but loses its luster when the public realizes the high number of slabs there are on the market, i.e., "Binion".

I have 5 or 6 BU NGC silver dollars from the Fitzgerald hoard.
I believe I purchased them at around melt or 1 or 2 dollars over, not really any premium at the time.

Still a cool slab if you like slabs.
