i read in a forum a few days back about a peace nickel error? can someone delve into what this error is and where it's located. i'd really like to keep a look-out at my drawer for this. I very commonly get yet-to-be circulated rolls of new nickels, and would really love to get an error gem during one of my shifts.

thanks

Hi Madness - I am aware of only one variety Peace Nickel and it is a doubled die obverse. This particular variety has doubling on the date, IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, FS and on Jefferson's eyelid. While early die states show division lines, especially in WE and the date, later die states tend to become mushy and extra thickness of the lettering is the only indicator of a doubled die.

First found around Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the most were discovered in that state. Examples on ebay went from $40.00 up to over $500.00 for the higher grade, encapsulated coins.

I found quite a few down here and have kept one EDS coin for my collection.

Hope this helps.
