Need some detailed grading opinions, could any of this be original luster? etc...

I'm going to say AU-50 grade wise.. Thought that flat spot on the reverse ribbon certainly doesn't help any.. Maybe weakly struck?
I am NO expert on luster, so I won't even bother.. It looks kinda fuNny to me, but that's probly because I expect old coins to look, well, old! ;P lol

Thanks again coinsearcher Local coin dealer says the flat spot in the motto is from a worn die. I noticed also the stars on the obverse have a point that seems to stretch off the edge. The UNITED on reverse is suffering from the same shifting die strike.

I'm going to go with AU-55.. I definitely see some original luster still on there.

To me the coin look cleaned, I would grade it at AU-50.

it's a little hard to tell if the lighting is affecting our viewpoints, but I see some broken luster, so it probably was cleaned at some time-I agree with the AU grade.

The luster does have a bit of unnatural shine that suggests the coin was cleaned. I don't think this coin would get into a problem-free slab at PCGS. It might still be worth the gamble since potential resale value will be boosted if it were slabbed as a no-problem coin.
The missing URIB is likely due to die damage or maybe a filled die. The stretched star points are typical artifacts from severe die wear and you frequently see this feature on capped bust halves.

AU50 maybe a little better. I can't tell if it was cleaned but I would expect a little more natural toning in a coin that is almost 200 yrs old, that is somewhat circulated

I love the Capped Busties!
This one does look cleaned to me and possibly polished. Tons of details however! I can see a AU-50 out of this one (if it gets a grade...).
I think this is an O-106 (R-2). Check for the line that connects the lips to the chin (laced lips).

Good eye Moe145...It does have a shadow strike line, almost like a double strike on the lip, nose, and left obverse stars. Does this variety help the value much?

I'm also going to say AU-50 possibly cleaned. Struck towards the end of the die cycle.

Quote: Does this variety help the value much? It is a nice variety and many people love these. But it is only a rarity factor of 2 so it's not particularly uncommon. I like it!

I'm going to say she was dipped some time ago. I don't know what's going on on PLURIBUS. At any rate, what a bold strike on the rest of that one!
