Right now I have a bag full of pennys about 20 Dollars. and a small bag with 50 cents worth of Wheaties, Canadians, 2009s and 2010's 2011's. How should I start sorting and how should I sort like zinc and copper and things like that?

Depends on what you want to do with them. Will you get more? If you are intertesed in only the copper send the zincs back to the bank for a chance at more copper. If you are wanting to start a collection you'll want one of each date/mint.

So, what's your plan?

As a start, you could end this problem simply by sending me all those coins and no more problems with what to do with coins.
Then too you have to watch out for those that get all up in arms about the usage of the word PENNIES. For some strange reason they just don't want to admit out cents are really PENNIES.
As a start you should look into the possible purchase of the Red Book. Then separate the Canadian and US coins.
Next take out all the 09S VDB cents and put aside. Those are worth more than a few dollars. Then put aside all the 14D's too.
Don't worry about Zinc of Copper, just sort by dates and mint marks.
If in doubt check out https://www.coppercoins.com

I am a collector of wheat pennies, and the system I have is to have a labeled cointube of every year/mintmark (with the exception of the keydates), and roll every time I get 50 coins in a tube. I take the rolled cents and store in a safe/steel box.

You should start by sorting your wheaties from the Canadians or after a while they'll end everything with "Eh?".

There's a lot to explore beyond just the date and mintmark. It depends on how you want to collect.

The way I do it:
I put rows of small plastic condiment cups (solo) and write year on each of them. Just toss the penny in to it.
You marked the cup that has a specials coins like small or large date, wide or narrow AM, copper or zinc, etc. with a piece of colored paper or a different coin, such as a quarter. Then start selecting the coins one cup at a time for mint mark and condition of the coins and toss the bad one to a container, ready to go back to the bank. How to select the zinc or cooper? I learn it from this forum, please check it or ask the expert in this forum.
