someone let me know..as I have a collection of coins passed down from generation to generation and I have no idea what this is..if for nothing else insurance prupsoes --note this is oen of thousands of coins I have. The date looks like 1626

Well, it's George IV so it'll be 1826. As to what it is, that depends on the diameter, can you give us a measurement?

28mm sure looks like a 16 rather than 18..could be 1826....may have been worn off will try to get better pics

There can't be any question that it isn't 1826 as it's very definitely the portrait of George IV - alganbagerap got it spot on.

It must be a half penny.

Probaby no need to increase your insurance premiums just yet - lets hope you have lots of enjoyment sorting through your family collection though.

yep that looks like it much better than th one I have...

i did post some pics of another coin someone thinks is a british silver six pence from king janmes 1...here on the "ancient coins" as I had no idea about it either...if some of you would please look at it..as well..thanks
