I agree w/ all collectors mentioning Mint sets are often too expensive, unfortunatly if you want all coins minted sometime you need to buy them.
Personally I'ld like to collect only from my country contemporary coins in UNC grade, while the grade I like to collect for other countries and aged coins is XF, that to me give much more interest beeing a Circulated coins in a still well conservation.

For me I will admire a circulated 100 year coin rather than an Uncirculated 150 years old coin. A circulated coin is history and I can never imagine to see a 100 year old coin in an uncirculated condition and feel that it is a 100 year old.
Personally I see a circulated coin as a witness of history travelling from one person hand to another rather than an uncirculated coin that may have spent the last 100 years in a safe box of a collector and never witnessed anything.

This is my opinion but that doesn't mean that I don't have uncirculated coins in my collection.
