On 03/31/2010 Banco de Mexico announced a new circulating coin. It is a circulating 20 Pesos bimetallic coin commemorating Mexico's Nobel Prize (Literature) winner. The coin commemorates Octavio Paz's 20th anniversary of his Nobel Literature Prize.

The coin has the same dimensions as the previous issues.
Copper-nickel center with a bronze ring. It's also 32mm.

Latest-Circulating-Mexican-Coin J/K!

I wonder who thought the three quarters view was better than a profile. A lot of countries are using it and I sure don't care for it.

Mexico is certainly doing more interesting things with their coinage. The US mint could learn something from them IMHO

Mexico really does know coins, they've been doing it for almost 500 years. They honor their heroes, the U.S. mint honors dead Presidents.

You got that right. One of these days we'll wake up and produce quality again. The State, ATB programs were a good start. We just didn't follow through. The ATB series especially should have been on the half dollar. We could have then prevented all those huge slugs from getting out.

Someone should tell her how to properly hold a coin by its edge.

... wait a minute, maybe she already knows and she just wanted to show off those nasty nails! Ha ha ha

Yeah, the nails are nasty, but at least they get to hold the coin, as it seems all the collectible U.S. coins are slabbed and can't be touched.

Nice coin, ugly nails.
