I picked up a 1854 half dollar for a little above spot. I paid $15 and has a bit of toning. I will post a picture later today

Here are the pictures. This is a 1854-O half dollar.

Funny thing is that I paid 15 dollars for this and in my Red Book (1993 edition) this coin in g-4 condition is valued at $14. Yay. I would put this as a VG-8 to F-12

Very nice find. This coin might grade a touch higher.

That would be nice. I dont like it how the Red Book grades this coin all on the obverse, all on the word liberty. I would grade it higher myself but the book does not want to
Rest in Peace

I'd grade it at around F-15, so great deal.

Depends on the possibility of weak strike obverse. But I'd have to agree with ShadowCreator and say F-15

You bought that almost at melt! I'd say incredible find, and definitely worth much more especially from the New Orleans Mint. I agree with a nice F-15, and numismedia puts F-12 at $59! It looks very nice and original, which is not all that common with seated material. Congrats!

That is an excellent pickup! Lots of great detail on that coin, and a spectacular price. I picked up a '54 O several years ago in EF for about $55 that has an even 'gun metal grey' toning (as I call it). I thought it was a good price for the coin then, but yours is a fantastic score. Enjoy it!
