My fellow Americans,

It has recently come to my attention that a large percentage of our population exemplifies a very disturbing trend; that of an increasing ignorance of numismatics.

Ok, now that my rant is over I want to know how many of you participate in the 'Where's George?' campaign. Every time I find a marked bill I enter it in and notice that it has very few if any hits. Kinda makes me sad that people don't take 30 seconds to just enter in the serial number....

"Ignorance" may be a bit strong of a word. I collect coins not bills. Don't care about bills, never have. I also work 10 hrs a day, have two kids,my wife has had two surgeries on her foot in the last three months. My point being each person has to delegate time to the best of their abilities. I don't have time for everything. Tracking bills on the net is just one of the things I have no time for. I never even look at bills to see if they are marked. It sounds fun if your interested but I'm not ignorant because I don't.

What I meant by that first line was that many people seem to not care about the things that users of this forum do. I do not mean that if you do not do the Where's George that it makes you ignorant. That would be crazy! Sorry if what I said offended you- it was not meant to.

I do not collect bills either, blueszone. I just like to see where they have been and where they end up. Its kinda cool to see how our nations currency moves about.

P.S. I wish the best for your wife. I hope she recovers quickly.

I didn't think mutilating a bill or coin was numismatics. Just like the artificial toning. Writing or altering a coin/bill pretty much ruins any numismatics involved. imo

I did a few years ago but no one would ever update the bills I had entered so I just stopped doing it.

If you go to https://www.WheresGeorge.com and register, it's pretty simple and straightforward..

I did this quite a bit the last three months.. Then I just stopped caring..but that was due to external happenings..

I might start again soon.. I've been getting hits in Connecticut instead of plain ol' Michigan lately.. So I guess I will restart..

No wonder you can't find George! I am he, and I live in Australia.

I have had a strong interest in ancients for more than four decades, and I have had a copy of the Roman Imperial Catalogue (RIC) for most of that time.

I have spent most of life learning what I can on numismatics that covers the last 2,500 years. I love learning in this area, and I have not stopped. And I have done most of this on a fairly restricted budget.

After all of this time, I guess that I know bit, but there a few in the CCF that know a lot more than I do!

Whaddya know? that was my 1111th post! Double legs eleven!

Same here. I have registered a few, but I have never marked them. Actually, I lost interest when I started seeing the bills marked with the website.

By the way, as this topic deals with paper currency, I am moving this to a more appropriate forum.
