My friend said to keep this star note. its a 2001 $100 star note Number CF 00082226.

is he right? is it more worth than face value?

Probably not much over face due to the condition. If the serial number was a little lower, maybe. But, it's a lot of money to have tied up in a note that really has very little premium attached.

If I'm reading the production info right, it's from the first run of stars for that particular FRB (Atlanta), totaling 320,000, which is pretty low.

However, it looks to be fairly well circulated. Not a total rag, though.

If you'd like to keep it because you like it, and you're able to, than yes, I would hang onto it. If you intend on keeping it to resell it, for some type of premium, that I'm a little unsure of.

Premiums on higher denom notes can be tricky, especially if they've got few bumps and bruises.

If you can afford to keep it then go ahead.As a general rule most people only keep the notes that start with four zeros and condition counts a lot,IMHO.
