Anybody willing to share how they set their sell prices for items offered here, other than the obvious "by grade?"

A few approaches have crossed my mind:

1. Numismedia based - seem way high to me in many cases
2. Grey sheet - probably too low
3. ebay completed - schizophrenic at times, but well representative of the market in total
4. Discount for CCF members - but discount from what?

Thanks.

What seems to work best is knock 10% off what you paid, then eat the shipping!

Got lots of experience with that -10% in the stock market. Free shipping there though.

How do you get to see those 'greysheet' prices? I've heard of them; but only dealers get them, no?

One more reason to have a forum or subforum for members taht are coin dealers. Then such a post with those questions could be answered by the actual people right here that sell coins.
Just a thought.

I asked mine but he saves them for when he has to do historical value appraisals and wouldn't sell. So I went to greysheet's website and purchased one. You can get paper copies or PDF versions. You can also save money by ordering back issues. I picked up March 11 for $2.00.

I use ebay completed listings, then deduct half the fees (6%)...that way the buyer and seller get a good deal.

I use CoinFact's auction averages from the last 6 months for numismatic items. CoinFacts includes all public auction records.

For bullion I usually price it just under spot and include free shipping.
