Get this, I sold about $125 of paper money on ebay to a guy on 3-13. Shipped USPS with tracking, package arrived 3-16. Yesterday on April fools he leaves me positive feedback, then opens a claim to get his money back.

Wondered if it was a joke on April 1, but he's not backing down. Says in his claim I'm unresponsive, and he's sent multiple unanswered emails.

First email on record was yesterday, to which I responded 8 minutes later!

Is there a place on these forums to 'out' any dead-beat ebay buyers and sellers? I'm usually on the selling end and we don't get much protection from anyone....although there are bad sellers too.

When this has happened to me in the past,(if a claim is opened), is to passionately plead your case in the emailed response and then ask that one of the ebay Reps call you personally so you can tell them EXACTLY what happened.
(They REALLY don't like calling you but it works much better if you can explain & answer questions directly, I have found.)

Save all the emails back and forth (if there are any) and forward them to the rep, if at all possible. It will really help build your case.

Sadly, I have found this to be too true. The protection from ebay/paypal is really slanted towards the buyer. And when you get a lousy buyer, you're lucky if you break even...

Good luck! And I feel for ya!

One point of solice. He already left positive feedback. Can't ruin my 100%

Says he left the positive by mistake because he makes so many purchases daily that he over looked it when he was catching up on feedback.....

By the way, his overall ebay score.....55.... (that's a lot of feedback for his 4 years of ebay membership) don't know how he keeps everything straight.

I am on another very active collectibles forum and we routinely 'out' problem sellers/buyers to the whole hobby list. It saves headaches and reduces the need to deal with the ebay resolution process which can be very tedious, nerve wracking in the case of large outlays, and not always favorable given the evidence.

I see no problem doing it here, if the details are spelled out so everyone has the chance to make their own decision.

My interpretation: he thinks he'll score on a claim with ebay, without spotting your record. He's on shaky ground here--imo. Good luck!

So what's his real gripe? Unresponsive can't be the base issue, since he must be accusing you of being unresponsive *about something*. Perhaps there's a legitimate issue underlying this? And his claims of having sent you emails, perhaps he tried, and did something wrong, and they didn't send. Since he believes he sent them, he's now upset, since he didn't get a response?

I guess my point is, be courteous, and try to find out what his real issue is. Perhaps there is a way to resolve that in a way that's agreeable to the both of you?

The ebay message system should be your friend on this one, but as Wei Fun asks, it seems as though another issue must be in play.

that is why I always send signature confirmation on everything I sell. That way they can not say they didn't get the package which they can say with delivery confirmation, because it just says it was delivered. With signature confirmation it shows it was delivered and who signed for it. Since I started this I have never had any more problems with people saying they didn't get their item (which seems to be a growing trend nowadays). I have had some people bicker about shipping but if they don't like it they don't have to bid and usually when I tell them the charges it costs me to send (I charge exactly what USPS charges me) they usually understand

What kind of a claim did he open?

Is it a Significantly Not As Described claim? Or is it an Item Not Received claim?

I'm sure something is going on on his side that I don't know of. Besides thinking he's someone trying to rip off a seller, the whole thing baffles me after 4 years selling on ebay.

As far as my side, it has been stated here.

Wei Fun: I'm always courteous even with this guy.

For item not received claims, as long as you had a tracking number (which you should have had for a $125 order) Paypal will likely side with you after talking to them and pleading your case.

As long as you sent the item with Delivery Confirmation to the address that PayPal provided you with, and the Delivery Confirmation number now shows that the item was delivered, you should win the INR claim.

PayPal will freeze the funds while the claim is being investigated, but you'll get the funds back once the case is decided in your favor.

Under PayPal's seller protection policy, Delivery Confirmation is sufficient for transactions that are less than $250. To maintain PayPal's seller protection for transactions over $250, you must ship with Signature Confirmation.

Yes, I got a tracking number. Tracking shows delivery 3 days after payment.

Sounds like you should be fine. It's a little frustrating to go through the process, but in the end, you should prevail. Keep us posted!
