Hello All,
I'm very new to this, and actually so new, that I just found a coin today while on vacation in England. I happen to come across this coin laying in some rocks, and have no idea what it is. All the searching I've done on google and I have found close but nothing head on when it comes to this coin. And when I did a search I thought this might be the best place to ask. So any help would be most grateful. Any idea what coin this might be?

-Deb

Looks too sharp to be genuine, but I'm no authority.

I'm honestly not sure, I tried to take pictures of the edge of the coin, but it's hard to get a good shot with my camera. My father believes it to be silver though, but have no real way to tell. Later I'm hoping to take it some where to have it looked at. Just not sure where to go.

Its a cast copy IMO, the edges on the obverse, and reverse just don't look right. That is not to say it cant be silver. Easy test, see if a magnet will stick to it. And If it was outside for 200+ years, I assure you it would of been buried, and would not look anywhere near that good.

Ive had one of those in the past,it came in a lot of tokens that I bought.. I cant remember exactly what it was, but,I do remember it was a replica of some very old coin and it was paper thin and silver colored!

Yours however appears a lot thicker than the one I had...so it is possible you may have something

The "crown" the king is wearing with the tassels dangling down on either side like hair is Byzantine in design, but the Byzantines never made coins with that style of cross on the reverse. I think what you've got here is a fantasy coin, like the one in this old thread. I can't quite read the legends on this coin to be sure of what it's claiming to be.
