Pity the images of the man and woman shown here are not accurate enough to remind me of William and Catherine. Especially William. I have a complete type set of florins, Twenty Cents and ten pence coins since the florin was introduced in 1849. I guess that I will add one of these to the set.

Quote: Carded 20c will it be circulated? The 20c isn't carded, but it will go in to circulation and is also available from the RAM in a roll. There's a carded 50c with the same design that will not go in to circulation that's also available.

More evidence that the designers commissioned by RAM have an informal competition going to design the least attractive new coin. Jeff (confirmend cynic)

Not a very flattering image of either of them. Maybe it'll look better in the hand. I might have to go out and buy a Steve Irwin coin now. I was avoiding doing so due to it not being much like him at all. Then I can start a whole new themed collection "Who is this on this coin"?

Showed a picture of this commemorative new coin to the little lady. She thought it was to commemorate rock n' roll. Said it looked like Janis Joplin and Pat Boone. Enogh said.

Further to The Royal Wedding Coin 20 cent Commemorative coin. The Australian mint rightly, has a worldwide reputation for designing and minting some iconic and memorable coins of the highest quality. I think in cases where they intend to use a human image likeness they should stick to a sculpted profile of the person/persons as these generally are extremely good with the results. Photographic images when reduced to coin size representations tend to not appear as true likenesses in most cases. For those who are desperate to have a royal souvenir of Wills and Kate they could always pad print them for a better result as they do with many of their other so called collector coins. Nonetheless being an avid collector of aussie coins I will be ordering a few rolls of the twenties and a few carded 50 cents to keep my collection complete and up to date. I also have emailed the RAM with a suggestion to check out Community Coin Forum on the web to see how their Royal Wedding coin and other aussie coins which have depicted human likenesses are being commented on both here and around the world. Having said all that the little lady eagerly awaits the new coin so she can add it to her collection of Rock N' Roll memorabilia. My sincerest apologies to both Janis and Pat as they are true icons of The Rock Era. Maybe the RAM might start a collectors program of The Rock N' Roll era. Think of the business that would generate for the mint. Greetings to all my fellow collectors on coin forum. I have much enjoyed your comments on this new coin.
