MathieuMa I have virtually no doubt that the coin is a fake. That is how I classified it when I first spotted it on
ebay. I am glad the fellow took it down to get "checked".
If it reappears I will write to ask who authenticated it.
You say the coin was underweight -

but it's too underweight considering the coin look
What weight did the seller confirm? It has to be 26.5 or higher to be correct at this wear level.
The coin appears to be one of the modern silver copies that are flooding the market. The coloration which is darker around the raised features looks completely artificial and the surfaces do not appear to have been finished. I see no real evidence of circulation. The real 8Rs show wear patterns in the field areas just like other large bulky coins. The high features look "worn" but all of them that reflect light show horizontal scratches seen on artificially worn coins. This appearance can be eliminated by changing the light angles BUT if the seller is not trying to hide it - it sticks out like a sore thumb.
The crowns are correct for 1750 in Mexico City. The alterations made to the Imperial Crown happened starting in 1754 according to Gilboy.
The mushy letters are very typical of copies and the overall appearance is just BAD. Unless you want to own a hunk of metal with a value equal to the SCRAP CONTENT only - stay away from this one.
