I had this coin in my family for 60 years and never new what it was. I recently investigated and found out it was a 1921 HSU SHIH CHANG DOLLAR K-676. I've also seen a lot of forged MS versions on the internet, so I recently sent it to PCGS for grading and authentication. They graded it at XF40.

I'm now trying to find out its value. Can someone help me with that or point me in the right direction to find the value?

Thanks.

kamelin: Welcome to the CCF!

Your curiosity has rewarded you. Curiosity is one of the things that drives me in numismatics. Things like that bug me until I find out.

What are your numismatic collecting interests?

Hi,

I'm not a coin collector.
I've invested in a few gold coins for long term savings, but that's it.

I am curious about this coin. Can you help me with pricing on this coin?
Rest in Peace

Krause lists this variety (K-676) @ $900 for an XF specimen. Nice!

Is E-Bay the best place to auction this coin?

Note, Krause prices on Chinese coins are REALLY low because Chinese coin prices shot up from the middle of last year. For example this: http://www.bowersandmerena.com/Auct...?LotID=87721

Research before you sell.

Your coin is not the same coin in the link referenced by gxseries. That is a somewhat scarcer coin missing the characters at the bottom on the reverse, hence the Kann reference number 676a. Yours is the "normal" type k-676. gxseries is correct: the Chinese rare coin market is very hot right now. Pavillion dollars are fairly scarce in mint state, less so in circulated condition such as yours; however even an XF is worth today around $5000 IF it's slabbed by a reputable service as yours is. who knows when this market will cool. I would sell it through a reputable auction house such as Heritage, StacksBowers, or Goldberg as soon as I could. I would NOT sell such an expensive coin on ebay. The major houses know how to market your coin to Chinese buyers. I've just put mine, purchased 20 years ago, in the StacksBowers Hong Kong sale in August. Mine's in an NGC MS63 slab. The following pictures show it in the previous PCGS slab. I had it reslabbed by NGC.
