Quote: Wow, t360, that is a splendid mark! Fabolous coin I agree. FABU ! And YES, please include the mm size of the coins posted. It's impossible to tell from photos, and not everyone has those early reference books.

Thank you Litotes and mysilveryears. Quote: As for size, my book states the diameter is between 32 and 36 mms. It would be interesting to know the exact diameter of your coin. The 1560 mark of Gustav measures precisely... 34mm.

t360: Wasn't Henry II the son of Catherine D'Medici who was foretold by Nostradamus that her children would be rulers of Europe. If so, then we are really getting well back into history?
All these coins sure are a sight to behold. I really can't say enough how much sharing these coins really mean.
Thanks to all the members who are sharing their coins with us. This is truly a timecapsule.

Catherine D'Medici was actually the wife of Henry II and Queen consort of France until his untimely death due to a jousting accident in 1559. Her frail fifteen-year old son became King Francis II for a short time until his death in 1560. Catherine then acted as regent on behalf of her ten-year-old son King Charles IX. After Charles IX died in 1574, Catherine's third son became King Henry III. She was a powerful and influential woman and mother of three successive kings of France.

Seems like this thread is evolving into a fairly amazing one-man show. I did not have this 1575 when we rolled past that date.. so you get to see it now. I'm pretty happy with its condition and the fact that it's now my oldest English coin; found in a boxlot of mixed older foreign at a local auction. England; 1575 Elizabeth I long cross sixpence; silver, 26 mm:
