1562 France1562 (in Arabic numerals) Teston of Charles VIIII, mint mark 'I' (below the bust, Limoges). Notice anything unusual about the legends?

To start with the N looks reversed but other than that I really can't see anything else that looks out of place. But when I look at the 1563 and 1562 coins they look remarkably similiar except for C below the crown on each side of the center crown and the arabic vs roman numerals.
So do I win something or am I the loser again?

Yes you got it! All of the N's in the legends on both sides are reversed.

When I first started following this thread I would never have thought that we could go so far back in time is a consecutive fashion. I knew that coins from Biblical times were out there but I was imagining something of a black hole to start around the early 1700's or late 1600's.
Just a rhetorical question: When someone starts collecting these coins are you collecting a country, theme, or as usual just because you like the coin.
vb3347: that is sure a nice looking coin and the details are still all there. That eagle on the reverse is sure stylized - almost Imperial Russion looking.
{edit} It was worth the wait to see your coin.

Probably an early test to see if the people were paying attention.
If they weren't as they said in Alice in Wonderland "Off with their heads". If that was it probably an early eye recognition test.

Quick question though. Where do you guys see and find these coins As you wish, 1560. Where I find the coins? Mostly European auction sites, coin fares or coin stores. This is another Danish silver marck, this time round. Also minted under Fredrik II. 29mms in diameter.

Wow, t360, that is a splendid mark! Fabolous coin As for size, my book states the diameter is between 32 and 36 mms. It would be interesting to know the exact diameter of your coin.
