I bought that coin the other day. I would like to know if it belongs to the rarer variety of this date. The 9 seems to be at a bigger distance from the 5 than the other digits to each other.

Thank you for your help!

On the 59s the 9 was all over the place as it was hand punched. It is in so many places it is hard to say if any are more valuable than any others.

What is really nice about this coin aside from great condition, is the I in REGINA. Notice the re-punch under the I, this obverse seems to always have a die crack next to the A in GRATIA, and a small die crack from the rim into the top of the V in Victoria. It was mated with at least two different reverses. Nice coin.

I have several of these and recently I noticed that the obverse was paired with at least two different reverses. On one of them, the edge of the 9 in the date almost perfectly lines up with the vertical line of the N right above it. On the other the edge of the 9 is slightly to the right of the spot where such a vertical line would be. Yours is the second type. I have no idea which is more common, just that there are at least two.

This looks to be a common 1859. Nice coin!
