I am a new member and was trying to find out something on a coin I recently bought. The 13 stars on the above coin are not the same design. Some look like an asterisk and some look like other stars on other coins. Is this the way there were minted? Thanks

I think I know what you're talking about. Here's my 1843 O Half Dollar. You can see significant detail in some stars and others are flat and non-detailed. This is normal for the Seated Liberty half dollars. As the obverse die is used, wear occurs and sometimes affects the stars differently.
