! While back I found what looks to be a off metal 1975 d LMC !
I don't think is aluminum because I feel no difference in weight !
I dont think has been heated because have not that that brass yellow color !
Looks more like silver but don't sounds like silver !
Cant be missing the copper coat because in 1975 the LMC was made over 90% copper !
So have a look at the pics and give me your comments please ?!

I think that it's paint, chemicals, or some other type of post-mint alteration. I've come across a few of these myself.

It's probably worth 1 cent

Do you have a scale? Are you showing the dime because you think it might be a dime planchet instead of a cent planchet?

What I thought was odd was it appeared to take on a different tone in your hands, then changed when you put it down on something grey. Then changed again when next to other coins. So part of the problem may be the lighting OR you have discovered a Cameleon coin that can change colors like those lizards.
It really looks normal in your hands. Copper coins take on all sorts of different tones and hues pending on the invironment.

i have found heated coins before and can tell you is not the case , painted or coated not the case because the coin have some dings and is same color under there ,quemicals as acid or cleaners most of the time live bubble marks and this one have one uniforme color ! I'm looking to buy a scale but cant find ! the picture with the coin in my hand is the real color of the coin , sorry for different colors in different pic but I'm learning about the light in pics !i almost forget .. I took a pic together with the silver dime and other LMC of the same year just to show how looks more silver then cooper so we have a idea how odd it is !the dark spot on the reverse is dirty .

I found tons of coins like this. Guess what I do with them throw them right back into circulation because thats all its worth a penny to me. As far as it being an error it isn't sorry. Youll be surprised what chemicals can do to coins.

IMO it looks like a normal cent that has been cleaned or otherwise exposed to some kind of chemical. If you have a scale, weigh it. A normal copper cent weighs 3.11 grams (or real close to it depending on wear).

Looks a lot like a dipped copper cent.

I've heard that before as a reason why a coin CAN'T be plated. They don't seem to understand that the coin could have received the dings BEFORE it was plated/coated. In that case the dings WOULD be the same color. it is also possible to get dinged and not break through a plating layer. Look at all the contact marks you can see on post 1982 cents. Most of them DON'T break through the plating and expose the zinc.
