Does anyone know the story about these Lincoln Cents made at the San Francisco Mint from 1968-1974 and WHY were they made there for Regular Circulation?
The San Fransisco mint was put into service during the later part of the cal gold rush it was designed to mint coinage for circulation including at that time fractional gold.this continued through very many coin design changes with most denominations .
Most of the proof coinage was minted in philadelphia prior to the San fransisco mint taking the minting of proof coins as a fulltime operation in 1974 to date,,
