Hi Guys!

This is my first post, and I need to ask a question about valuation and didn't really know anyone better than a coin forum!

So the deal is, I was given a coin in Portsmouth on the queens Golden Jubilee. On that day I remember seeing the queen, but seeing as I was 10 years old at the time, I don't remember if it was her who gave it too me or not (Probably not).

I have looked around and have not seen a coin the same as mine online, although I have seen similar. Below are some photo's.

This coin is 100% as new and has never been played with, (mostly kept in the attic). And I am coming round to sell a lot of my items as I need to make room to move away from home.

I was just wondering if this coin is anything special, if so what would a rough estimation of it's worth be? Or is it not worth selling?

Thanks a lot!

Hello and welcome.

It isn't actually a "coin" - it's a medal, probably made by the city to give away to schoolchildren for the occasion. The text at the bottom of the obverse side of the case reads "limited edition solid gilding metal" - "gilding metal" is a fancy name for "brass".

Being so modern and not made of precious metal, I doubt it would be worth very much. I'm surprised this one sold for as much as 5 pounds on ebay UK.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
