Now, Silverhawk74, answer my question. I noticed on the post Numismatic items for sale forum, they say send payment by PayPal gift. What is the "gift" deal. I use PayPal a lot but I'm not familiar with that.

Think of all the common coins that may get melted back at the refinery in the days and months to come, making the remaining coins left much more rare than they ever were before?

"Much more rare" doesn't mean a thing as long as there are enough left to meet collector demand.

The gubmint melted hundreds of millions of dollars in the early 1900s, and more were melted in 1980. Look at the certified populations and tell me how "rare" this has made Morgans. If they were that rare, they never would have been selling anywhere close to scrap price.

@Danester There is an option to send money via gift in Paypal. This option does not charge the seller the 3% sales fee, nor does it charge the buyer. However, make sure you trust the seller, you are not covered under their buyer protection when using this option.

Danester, get cracking with some posts...took me a while to get enough to sell, but it's worth it. So far, nothing but the best experiences with selling and buying on CCF. When you are ready to sell, drop me a line.

Hold it!
I honestly think I have a better solution than a refiner or ebay...
APMEX isn't bad, likely better than ebay or midwest, but my favorite place is provident metals. They will pay you about 98% of melt value for the 90%, and 94-95% for the 40%, and all you have to do is pay registered shipping to them. You'll get a check in a week or so after shipping.
ebay fees are way high.
90% is way low.
Provident is awesome.

Jimineez, thanks for bringing up the Provident metals option. Their sight clearly outlines what they will pay for metal items. My desire of liquidating my 40% looks good here. Is there a registration or membership fee involved with using them?

Wow, that is good pricing...

Have you sold to them personally, or just read the website and are passing along some good information?

Oh well Fredd, so much for that plan. I hate it when a plan "does not" come together, to steal a quote from Hannibal on A-team, lol....

What about with gold Fredd? Seems like those little 3/4 a gram Liberia coins I have would be subject for much melt? I know the three I bought, the dealer told me he was happy someone one get them that appreciates them for what they are, instead of having to melt them down. I don't see many on ebay anyway, and if many of those get melted, who knows. Unlikely, but one just never knows what the future may bring eh....

Thanks, Silverhawk. Good buy on that "junk" for your collection. I agree with you that it will look great once it is cleaned up a little. How about posting a pic of that?

Currently, there's another solution that may be better than all the other....

I got the email from APMEX and here's the main part

"We Want These Products:

We will pay you $3.00 over the current spot price of Silver for your Silver American Eagles. ANY year, ANY quantity! Silver American Eagle

We will pay you $1,250.00 for your 2010 America The Beautiful 5 oz. Silver coin sets. America The Beautiful Set

Once we have purchased enough of these products to meet our current demand, this offer will end! YOU MUST ACT NOW!

Simply call our Purchasing Department toll free at 800.375.9006 between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. CDT to lock in your prices right now. At APMEX, we make it easy and hassle free to buy and sell U.S. Mint bullion coins."

No mention of 40% or 90% but I am pretty sure they will also buy.... contact them and ask for:

Who was sending you money before you even shipped the metal?
