I just bought 20 PCGS blue 20-slab holders before realizing that NGS slabs sit too high to close the lid! Anyone experience this? Should I ditch the PCGS holders (cases) and buy NGC slab-holders?

I keep a couple of each on hand but yes, NGC boxes hold both types of slabs while the PCGS ones will not house NGC slabs.

Thank you both. I wasn't sure if I was crazy.

that is why I switched to NGC boxes instead of the blue PCGS boxes. the NGC holders are to big to fit in the blue boxes. PCGS,ANACS and NGC slabs fit in the NGC boxes just fine. I always had to lay down all of my NGC slabs kind of cadycornered in the blue boxes so I could close the lid, but as I said the NGC boxes fixed all those problems. I like the look of the NGC boxes better also. I have some of the older boxes that you could see through and the newer silver colored ones as well and really like them both

Just break them out and put them in 2x2s, then they'll fit in all sorts of boxes.

the only time I crack a slab is if it was bought for a specific album, then I have no problem cracking any slab, but if I just bought it because I wanted it at the time I will leave anything already slabbed in the slab as long as its in my collection

I'm not sure but I believe NGC no longer sells their boxes. You may still get them if you have enough coins coming back from a submission but they don't sell them separately. This may reduce the availability of NGC boxes on the secondary market.

I agree with Conder101.
I went to Long Beach coin show and see plenty of PCGS box (sometime dealers will give them to you for free) but I don't see much of any NGC box (for sell or for free)..... May be we should start collecting NGC box now..... hahahaha

I fished around the internet and found Whitman slab cases for $7.95 each and they claim that NGC slabs will fit. Hopefully that will resolve the issue of the NGC cases becoming unavailable.
Thanks for all your feedback.

you may be able find NGC boxes on ebay cheaper than the Whitman boxes if you look

Most know that I am not a slab collector, but I have to say I am impressed with epop's slab album. I am always going to prefer an album (be it a Dansco or a three-ring binder) to boxes. For me it is a matter of convenient viewing.
